Ferguson ends Beckham’s dream offseason return to Man Utd

David Beckham’s search for an offseason loan to Europe turned away from England on Friday after his dream return to Manchester United was blocked by former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

While intending to see out the remainder of his contract with LA Galaxy, the star recently spoke of his desire for a loan move back to European soccer to remind England manager Fabio Capello of his talents.

He snubbed interest from Everton and said he would only return to the English Premier League with United, where he won six titles before moving to Real Madrid in 2003.

But his hopes of running out again at Old Trafford were ended when Ferguson expressed no interest in signing his former player as a veteran.

“I don’t think so, with David at his age,” Sir Alex said. “I have never signed a player at that age, have I?”

Arsenal was also linked with Beckham after he trained with the north London club in 2008, and boss Arsene Wenger admitted that he would complete the signing but for the competition for places in the Emirates Stadium squad.

It followed a rejection from Beckham’s former loan suitor AC Milan, currently leading the Italian league, which said there was no space for him this season.Read more: http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11670_6610297,00.html
