A jealous jailbird has allegedly confessed to fatally stabbing a 17-year-old girl because he believed the straight-A student had an affair with his girlfriend while he was behind bars, a source told The Post yesterday.
José Mendez, 40, was charged last night with murdering Luzbenet Ramirez in the Bronx apartment of his girlfriend, Rosanna Castro.
Ramirez’s body was found Tuesday. Five days earlier, Mendez was sprung from jail, where he’d been serving time for beating Castro, 25.
Castro and her neighbors in the Longwood section made the gruesome discovery.
“She was shoved in the closet in a fetal position. I started screaming and crying,” said horrified neighbor Renee Mosher.
