Late TD lifts Fordham over Lafayette

Darryl Whiting rushed for 108 yards on 29 carries and scored on a 7-yard run with 47 seconds left yesterday to give Fordham a 14-10 win over Lafayette in The Bronx.

Whiting’s touchdown capped a seven-play, 80-yard drive that took just 1:41.

Michael Martin intercepted a pass with 22 seconds left to clinch the Fordham (3-5) win over the Leopards (1-6).

Dartmouth 24, Columbia 21

In Manhattan, Nick Schwieger scored his second touchdown of the game on a 1-yard run with 2:28 remaining as Dartmouth (4-2, 1-2 Ivy League) beat Columbia (3-3, 1-2).

Two Big Green turnovers allowed Columbia to rally from a 10-point deficit to a 21-17 lead on a 4-yard TD run by Sean Brackett and a 2-yard scoring pass from Bracket to Nathan Lenz.

Louisville 26, UConn 0

In Louisville, Ky., Doug Beaumont returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown and Chris Philpott kicked four field goals to lead Louisville (4-3, 1-1 Big East) over Connecticut (3-4, 0-2).

Stony Brook 38, Coastal Carolina 28

In Conway, S.C., Miguel Maysonet rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns as Stony Brook (3-4, 2-0 Big South) held on to defeat Coastal Carolina (2-5, 1-1).

Duquesne 21, Wagner 20

In Staten Island, Dave Williams caught two fourth-quarter TD passes from Sean Patterson, the last with 1:41 left to cap a 98-yard scoring drive, as Duquesne (5-3, 3-2 NEC) rallied to beat Wagner (4-3, 2-2), which got a passing and rushing TD from Nick Doscher.

Monmouth 19, St. Francis 7

In West Long Branch, N.J., Kyle Frazier passed for a touchdown, Eric Spillane kicked two field goals, Monmouth (3-4, 3-1 NEC) jumped out to a 19-point lead and held off St. Francis, Pa. (1-6, 1-4).

Jacksonville 56, Marist 14

In Jacksonville, Fla., J.J. Laster and Rudell Small combined for five TDs as Jacksonville (7-1, 5-0 Pioneer League) beat Marist (2-5, 1-4), which got TD passes from Tommy Reilly and Chuckie Looney.

Harvard 45, Princeton 28

In Princeton, N.J., Gino Gordon and Treavor Scales combined for 372 rushing yards as Harvard (4-2, 2-1 Ivy League) beat the Tigers (1-5, 0-3), despite two TD catches for Andrew Kerr.
