Red Sox’s Delgado leaves minor-league game with back injury

Carlos Delgado left a minor-league game with tightness in his back, likely delaying his return to the majors with the Red Sox.

The former Mets first baseman, who has not played since 2009, signed with the Red Sox last month. He left a game with Triple-A Pawtucket on Sunday, according to the Boston Herald.

“It got to the point where it got pretty tight, and I couldn’t move around as well as I wanted to,” Delgado said. “Hopefully (it won’t be a setback). We’ll see how it is (Monday) and take it from there.”

Delgado is 3-for-13 with two RBIs in five games for Pawtucket, the report says.
