Ex-worker sues Daily Racing Form for age discrimination

Talk about getting put out to pasture!

A former copy editor at the Daily Racing Form claims he was canned last year because he was the oldest worker at the horse-racing newspaper’s Midtown office.

Michael DelNagro, 63, alleges in court papers that he was laid off without warning by a boss who blamed the “tough economy” but had previously “needled” him about his age.

DelNagro, of Manhattan, says Editor in Chief Richard Rosenbush once teased him about coming to work with a cassette player by loudly saying: “Man, you’re showing your age! Nobody under 50 uses a Walkman!”

Another time, Rosenbush allegedly told DelNagro, who was awaiting hip surgery, “Look at you! You’re walking around here like an old man!”

DelNagro’s Manhattan federal court suit — which seeks unspecified damages for age discrimination and retaliation — says Rosenbush only hired and promoted people under 40.

DelNagro also alleges that the only other person laid off along with him in February 2009 was 61 years old and the second-oldest person on staff.

Rosenbush declined comment, and publisher Steven Crist didn’t immediately return a message.
