SEATTLE — Accused “Barefoot Bandit” Colton Harris-Moore will remain in jail for now.
At his first appearance in federal court in Seattle yesterday, Harris-Moore did not contest his detention or seek to be released on bail.
The 19-year-old also waived his right to a preliminary hearing. The next time he will appear in court will likely be after a grand-jury indictment.
He is accused of stealing a plane in northern Idaho last year that crashed north of Seattle. Investigators in several states are sorting through some 70 thefts and other crimes he’s suspected of committing.
Harris-Moore wore a tan, jail-issued shirt and pants, appeared somber and spoke quietly to his attorney during the eight-minute hearing.
