Pakistan mosque bomb wounds 15

SARGODHA, Pakistan — A suicide bomb exploded at a Shiite mosque in central Pakistan yesterday, killing the bomber and wounding at least 15 people, police said.

The attack took place as people performed evening prayers at the mosque in Sargodha.

“The attacker was carrying a bag and detonated the explosives as a guard at the gate tried to stop him,” said Abdul Ghafoor, one of the wounded.

Punjab province, where Sargodha is located, has seen a series of deadly attacks in recent months.

More than 40 people were killed in twin suicide bombings at a Sufi shrine in the provincial capital Lahore this month.
