FBI eyes iPad breach

The FBI has jumped into the iPad security breach caper.

The G-Men are investigating a possible cyber threat after group of computer experts discovered a flaw on AT&T’s Web site that exposed the e-mail addresses of thousands of iPad users.

More than 114,000 iPad owners — including high-profile figures in business, politics and government — had their info exposed by exploiting a security hole on AT&T’s site.

The computer experts made their findings public on Wednesday, saying they waited until after AT&T had fixed the problem. The group said it broke no laws in exposing the breach.

“Our intent was well-meaning,” said a representative of the group. “We thought the public should be informed of a serious privacy breach so iPad 3G owners could take steps to mitigate this (like using a different email address).”
