Sunny delight

This trend is bananas. Well, its fruity color is, at least.

From juicy lemon to murky mustard, yellow is having a moment.

Marc Jacobs told the Financial Times last week, “It’s positive; it’s the optimistic choice.”

Jessica Simpson sported the sunny shade at the recent White House Correspondents Dinner. Whitney Port kept mellow in yellow in her Rachel Roy dress at Nylon magazine’s Young Hollywood party. And Jewel rocked “The Early Show” in a fitted yellow sheath.

Despite the color’s current popularity, it’s a tricky trend to adopt. Wear it well, you look like a glowing goddess. But one wrong move, and the yolk’s on you. “It’s usually not the most flattering color,” says celebrity stylist Robert Verdi. “And it’s hard to wear. It’s incredibly flattering on girls with brown skin and dark hair [but] a little awkward if you’re a redhead and it looks sallow on a blonde. That said, right now I love it on everybody. But anything neon is scary.”

How to look fly in butter:

1. Don’t let too much yellow pile up around your face and hair, especially if you’re blond. Strapless is easier.

2. Pair yellow with something exciting and unexpected. Wear a red shoe, or a dose of purple in the form of a manicure, a stack of bangles or a great clutch.

3. Avoid wearing black with yellow; you will look like a bumblebee.

4. Put some color on your lip. A nude-lip, yellow-dress combo will make you look like you’re jaundiced.
