Times Square ‘bomber’ Faisal Shahzad caught on tape buying fireworks

Security cameras nailed Faisal Shahzad buying 23 kinds of fireworks for his failed bomb.

Surveillance video released yesterday shows confessed Times Square terrorist Faisal Shahzad buying the fireworks he allegedly used to build the makeshift bomb for his failed attack.

“That is the opposite of what fireworks mean to the people of the United States,” said a statement released by Phantom Fireworks Showroom in Matamoras, Pa., where Shahzad hoped to secure a deadly triggering device for his crude fuel bomb.

Shahzad, 30, spent $95.28 on 23 kinds of fireworks on March 8, as part of his plot to kill countless innocents Saturday night.

In the video, Shahzad is seen driving up to the superstore in a black SUV, and then showing identification to enter the store, as is required by Pennsylvania law. He then wanders around the aisles and purchases a basketful of firecrackers.

He spent about 30 minutes in the store.

The company said that federal law restricts the amount of explosive material in fireworks to such a small level that they could never be used to detonate anything.
