This season’s denim trend has legs. Small enough to give Daisy Duke a run for her money, spring’s teeny tiny must-have cutoff shorts are remarkably versatile.
Beyoncé rocked a pair of Siwys with Louboutins and a tweed Chanel jacket to dinner at Nello. Kate Bosworth kept her look sexy and chic by pairing J Brand “1043” shorts with a white button-down shirt, evening clutch and leather sandals to meet friends for drinks at Ajna bar, while Ashley Olsen looked cozy and casual running errands with her pooch in a pair of Levi’s.
“You can wear a good pair of cutoffs to the beach in the daytime and totally dress them up at night with heels or even a bodysuit,” says Michelle Siwy, creative director of Siwy Denim. “There’s a sophistication to girls who wear them with something ultrafeminine and girly. It gives it a little more of an edge.”
Note: Plaid shirts, flat boots and striped tops work best for daytime, while sky-high heels and loads of accessories — and lunges — work best for taking the look into the night.
