Fans went ‘Wally’ for Cyclones tickets

Diehard Brooklyn Cyclones’ fan Jonathan Davies hunkered down at MCU Park the night before opening day tickets went on sale on Sunday with one goal in mind — to be the first person on line to buy them.

True to his wish, Davies scooped up a fat fan-ful of the sports gold, joining hundreds of baseball-starved fans of the Mets’ minor-league affiliate at the newly named stadium — some of whom had waited several hours for the chance to cough up cash for their hometown team’s 2010 season.

The season begins with a bang next month with an opening day game against the hated Staten Island Yankees and a fireworks display.

To pass the time, the cheery bunch took photos with team mascot Sandy the Seagull and chatted with new Cyclones’ Manager Wally Backman, whose best known for his role on the legendary 1986 World Champion Mets.

“Our 10th season will be our best one yet, thanks to unique entertainment, fireworks, giveaways, special appearances, and more,” promised Cyclones General Manager Steve Cohen.
