PSAL baseball roundup: New Utrecht exacts revenge on Telecom

Ronald Shea struck out four, allowed three hits and four earned runs in a complete-game as New Utrecht knocked off Telecommunications, 7-4, in Brooklyn A West baseball.

The Utes, who lost to the Yellows Jackets on Monday, moved to within a game of first place Fort Hamilton and into a second-place tie with Telecom. Chris Peraza doubled and had three RBIs, Matt Settanni scored twice, and Chris Hodgens scored a run and drove in one for New Utrecht (5-1). Telecom is also 5-1.

George Washington 5, Stuyvesant 4: Mike Antonio homered, scored twice and drove in two runs, Jorge Toribio scored two runs, and Jessue Alvarado picked up the win with four innings of shutout relief for George Washington (7-0), which rallied for two runs in the third and one in the fourth, in Manhattan A East. Stuyvesant is 4-3 in Manhattan A West.

Bayard Rustin 6, West 50th Street 0: Jose Miguel Uceta struck out seven in a complete-game effort, Marvel Luna had two RBIs and scored a run, and Jendy Olivo had two hits and scored twice for Bayard Rustin (2-3) in Manhattan A East. West 50th Street is 0-6 in Manhattan A West.

Francis Lewis 12, Forest Hills 1: Jonathan Bobea struck out 10 in five shutout innings for his fourth victory, Kennedy Tavarez homered, had three hits and drove in four, David Torres scored twice and drove in two runs, Ozzie Robles doubled and had two RBIs for Francis Lewis (6-0) in Queens A East. Forest Hills is 1-5.

Tottenville 10, Susan Wagner 2: Gil Mendoza and Thomas Kain each had three RBIs, Will DiFede and Kain each homered, and Stephen Mattina tossed six strong innings of two-run ball for the win for Tottenville (6-0) in Staten Island A. Wagner is 2-5.

Morris 2, South Bronx 1: Arismendy Nunez went the distance for his second league win, striking out six and allowing three hits, Raiky Ortiz homered, and Yoan Delarosa drove in the game-winning run In the seventh for Morris (5-0) in Bronx A East. South Bronx fell to 1-5.

Monroe 16, Stevenson 0: Kelvin Toribio homered, doubled, scored three runs and drove in five, Jesus Vasquez had three RBIs, and Ricky Batista had two RBIs and scored twice for Monroe (6-0) in Bronx A East. Stevenson is 2-4.

DeWitt Clinton 11, Walton 3: Hansel Reinoso, Melvin Mercedes, Shaniel Rivera, and Julian Burgos each drove in two runs, and Juan Allende picked up the win by striking out seven in 5 2/3 for Clinton (6-0), which scored seven runs in the third innings, in Bronx A East. Walton fell to 1-5.

Fort Hamilton 11, Lafayette 1: Franciel Campusano struck out nine in three shutout innings for his third win, Jonathan Maldonado had two RBIs and scored three runs, and Franklyn Perez scored had two RBIs and scored two runs for undefeated Fort Hamilton (6-0) in Brooklyn A West. Lafayette is 1-5.

Long Island City 13, Grover Cleveland 1: Josh Levy homered, scored three runs and drove in three, Edwin Saez added three hits and three RBIs, and David Velazquez struck out seven in five innings of work for LIC (6-0) in Queens A West. Grover Cleveland remained winless at 0-6.
