Drama Mama: Battling ‘Wives’

OK “Lost” fans, just because the time-travelling, island-hopping adventure took a week off doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of other quality programming for you to DVR and overanalyze all week:

Army Wives” (Sunday, 10 p.m., Lifetime) Apparently “Army Wives” is enough of a hit that there are now copy cats out there, as VH1 introduces us to the “Basketball Wives” in the same time slot. Somehow, Mama is guessing that she will still relate more to the fictional but heartfelt “Army” women vs. the “reality” of NBA honeys. Enough with the Wives, already.

Chuck” (Monday, 8 p.m., NBC) For a show that started out as nothing more than a remake of “Scarecrow and Mrs. King,” this spy caper has displayed an extraordinary ability to morph and reshape itself every season. From its humble roots as a geek-turned-spy tale, it has evolved into a James Bond-spoof adventure that recognizes the fun of mixing up its characters into one big, yummy spy stew. This week – kicking off the set of “bonus” episodes we get because of the Jay Leno debacle — the unlikely team of Casey and Morgan (played by the underrated Joshua Gomez) should produce some laughs.

24” (Monday, 9 p.m., Fox) As time runs out for this once-thrilling adventure, Mama has to admit she’s been sucked in again by the return of her favorite uber villain, President Logan, who can stir up some real problems for Jack. Too bad Jean Smart isn’t around to put Logan in his place – and in the hospital – again.

The Good Wife” (Tuesday, 10 p.m., CBS) Crusty Irish character actor Kevin Conway stops by as Alicia’s intimidating former boss, Jonas Stern, who she’ll face in court for the first time. Also, Peter miraculously finds religion – and just in time to use it to his advantage for a case.

Law & Order: SVU” (Wednesday, 10 p.m., NBC) Guest star Sharon Stone shows up as Stabler’s old partner when he and Benson are called to work on a fire investigation that kills two little girls. But this being SVU, there must be a sex crime in there somewhere — maybe Stone’s character will uncross her legs when she interrogates a suspect. … Nah, even “SVU” wouldn’t dare to gross us out that much.

Happy Town” (Wednesday, 10 p.m., ABC) This spooky new “Lost” replacement mostly makes Mama feel old – it’s being compared to one of her favorite creep-fests of all time, “Twin Peaks,” which premiered 20 years ago this month. Sigh. Sam Neill, Amy Acker and Steven Weber star in the mystery revolving around a string of unsolved kidnappings.

And if you’re still not satisfied “Lost” fans, you can find former “Losties” all over the dial – Cynthia Watros on “House” (Monday, 8 p.m., Fox); Elizabeth Mitchell on “V” (Tuesday, 10 p.m. ABC); Sonya Walger and Dominic Monaghan on “Flash Forward” (Thursday, 8 p.m., ABC); and Lance Reddick on “Fringe” (Thursday, 9 p.m., Fox). And now with May sweeps upon us, there will be plenty of “Lost” revelations to fill your days and nights until its May 23 finale.
