Strikeout on health pact for Mets employees

More than 200 seasonal Mets employees are returning to work at Citi Field in preparation for Opening Day only to find their health benefits have been bargained away.

In their previous contract, cleaning workers were able to get coverage if they worked 75 days. But in their new three-year contract, they must work 90 days to get coverage — even though there are only 81 home games.

“This makes it impossible for many of the workers to reach that threshold,” a Mets employee griped.

The Mets declined to comment on the agreement.
