Farm goes Goldfi$hing

Pepperidge Farm remembers — its Goldfish are trademarked.

The bakery giant filed suit yesterday against Gymboree for peddling a line of “Little Goldfish” infant apparel allegedly emblazoned with copycat illustrations of the popular children’s crackers.

Pepperidge Farm accuses the kiddie clothing company of “knowingly” knocking off the iconic aquatic image without permission, causing “confusion, mistake and deception” among their “overlapping class” of pint-sized consumers.

The Manhattan federal court suit seeks unspecified damages, as well all profits from sales of the allegedly infringing attire and an order barring further marketing of the merchandise.

Pepperidge Farm says it’s been cooking up the familiar fish-shaped snacks since 1962, and licenses the design only to companies that “manufacture goods of a certain quality.”

Gymboree’s Web site currently advertises 25 different pieces of “Little Goldfish” clothing.

A Gymboree spokesman declined to comment.
