Epix picks up Charter

Epix, the fledgling premium movie channel jointly owned by three of Hollywood’s biggest studios, is gradually getting traction among television distributors.

The channel inked its latest distribution deal with Charter Communications, the St. Louis-based company founded by Microsoft’s Paul Allen that ranks as the nation’s fourth-largest cable operator. Epix, co-owned by Viacom’s Paramount Pictures, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Lionsgate, will be available to Charter subscribers in May.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
