Police seek witness in fatal Brooklyn fire

Police and fire officials are looking to speak to a man who witnessed a fatal Brooklyn fire believed to be arson.

One person died and five others were injured in the blaze that engulfed a three-story building Monday. Police and fire officials say a can of gasoline was found outside the building and it’s believed gas was poured into the vestibule and lit. Video shows two people enter and leave the building shortly before it exploded into flames.

The fire was reported at about 4:30 Monday morning inside an apartment building at 55 Harrison Place. The Fire Department said the victim was trapped by flames on the second floor. Police identified the victim as 17-year-old Sofia Olivo.

Five other people suffered non-life threatening injuries.
