NY duo sentenced in deaths of 2 men over fake cocaine

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — Two New York men have been sentenced in the shooting and dismemberment of a pair of rivals in a drug deal gone bad.

Darren Lynch of Queens and James Wall of Coram were convicted last month of murder and kidnapping in the deaths of 22-year-old Jairo Santos and 35-year-old Joseph Odierno.

Lynch testified at trial that he killed the two because he was infuriated that they had sold him $30,000 worth of fake cocaine.

The victims were last seen in July 2008 at Long Island University’s C.W. Post Campus in Old Brookville, where Santos was a student. Odierno was a truck driver from Miller Place.

Lynch was sentenced Monday to life without parole. Wall got 50 years to life.
