Gambino geezer guilty

An 80-year-old Brooklyn gangster who made a lifelong career out of running the waterfront for the Gambino crime family was convicted of racketeering, conspiracy and extortion charges yesterday.

Anthony Anastasio, who had been free on bail during his trial in Brooklyn federal court, was immediately placed in custody after the jury’s verdict.

Secretly recorded tapes from the Guys and Dolls hair salon on Staten Island — where Anastasio got his hair cut and held meetings with his mob cohorts — proved the wiseguy’s powerful position in the Gambino crime family and helped seal his fate.

Anastasio is the nephew of the late Albert Anastasia, the head of Murder, Inc., who was gunned down in a barbershop at the Park Sheraton Hotel in 1957.

Another uncle, Anthony “Tough Tony” Anastasio, held a tight grip on a longshoremans union for decades.
