Sully to fly tomorrow from LaGuardia

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is scheduled to take to the air tomorrow, and he’ll fly the same route that he did on that day in January when he was forced to land in the Hudson River.

Sullenberger will take off from LaGuardia Airport and head toward Charlotte, NC.

He’ll have his same co-pilot, Jeffrey Skiles, as he did when geese took out both engines and he successfully ditched in the river, saving 155 lives.

US Airways this week said Sullenberger also had joined the airline’s flight-operations safety-management team.

Sullenberger and Skiles won praise for their textbook response to the loss of power. Their plane was at just 2,800 feet, giving them three-and-a-half minutes to try to restart the engines or find an airport for a landing.

Sullenberger told the National Transportation Safety Board in June that he glided into the Hudson near Manhattan’s ferry terminals to increase the chances of a rescue.
