Pollock is purloined

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — A Jackson Pollock painting worth an estimated $40 million and other classic pieces were reported stolen from a rented home, police said.

Co-owner Angelo Benjamin Amadio said the 13 missing paintings, also including works by Matisse, Renoir, Van Gogh, Rembrandt and others, had not been insured because doing so would have cost $30 million.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and private detectives are investigating.
