No longer ‘Bored’ in Brooklyn

Brooklyn is about to blow up.

The new HBO series “Bored to Death,” which stars Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis (“The Hangover”) as Brooklyn buddies Jonathan Ames and Ray Hueston, is exposing the New York City borough to a new audience — the non-Brooklynite.

The series is smart, funny and it’s spreading the best-kept secret that is Brooklyn — the show’s Web site even boasts a map of local haunts featured on the show — and the bloggers are catching on.

“Bored to Death” is doing for Brooklyn what “Sex and the City” did for Manhattan, writes a blogger for the New York Times, who says the show is serving as Brooklyn’s “coming-out party.” And NYMag.com, notorious for its day-after assessment of “Gossip Girl’s” New York accuracy, has now given “Bored” its own Reality Index.
