Art Under the Bridge Festival

Serendipity pressed flesh with haphazard while spontaneous shared the spotlight with downright weird during the annual Art Under the Bridge Festival at the DUMBO Arts Center.

The 13th annual showcase of local artistry transformed the cultural hub, 30 Washington Street, into a vibrant platform of self-expression as entrepreneurs celebrated the waterfront area’s post-industrial profile and diversity, which continues to inspire new works of public art each year.

Participants utilized every available medium to create more than 80 temporary, on-the-spot projects, including “Brooklyn Suite,” Molly Dilworth’s large-scale painting on the rooftop of a building to be viewed by Google Earth; “Tent City,” Montanna Torrey’s address on homelessness; and “Watershed,” a sculptural statement about recycling by Marc S. Levitt.

In addition, visitors toured the studios of local artists and viewed non-stop video programming of cutting edge art from New York City, and around the world.
