Colorado waived British midfielder Terry Cooke today to make room for the younger Scot Jamie Smith. Cooke piled up a stunning 31 assists over the previous three seasons; he had a dozen each in both 2006 and last season, finishing first and third in MLS respectively.

I’m convinced he’d be a great signing for Red Bull, but I don’t think they share my opinion. Since trading Dave van den Bergh to Dallas, the Red Bulls have been starved for quality service, nobody suffering more than Juan Pablo Angel. But Cooke is one of the best crossers in MLS, even better than the Dutchman; he’d give Red Bull exactly what they need and then some.

Don’t believe me? Well, believe your eyes. Check him out in this video:

Or this one. Just spare yourself and listen with the sound off.

Do you think they should look at Cooke, or do you figure he’s lost a step? Would you look into Ngwenya? Didn’t want Paunovic anyway, assuming he’d turn out to be another Sicknote? Talk to us….
