Anquan Boldin, remember him?

The Arizona Republic reports the Cardinals and WR Anquan Boldin “are at least several weeks away from having substantive talks with [his] agent … about a contract extension, general manager Rod Graves said.”

Boldin has been looking for an extension or trade to a team that would give him one since shortly after the Cardinals’ Super Bowl loss to the Steelers in February.

The Giants (without Plaxico Burress) and the Jets (without Laveranues Coles) each are believed to be in need of a top-level receiver and have had various levels of interest in Boldin.

This offseason, Boldin changed agents, hiring Tom Condon (the agent for Giants QB Eli Manning) to replace Drew Rosenhaus.

It is not known if Boldin will report to Cardinals training camp when it opens July 29, though coach Ken Whisenhunt told NFL.com he’s optimistic the receiver will be there.
