TRAFFIC RETORT

I could not agree more with the article “Asleep at the Wheel” (July 15) regarding the traffic-slay report.

Countless number of times I’ve seen a person make an illegal U-turn in the middle of a busy street, sometimes at high speed and many times without a signal indicated. Never have I seen a person getting a ticket for this. On the other hand, almost every day I see someone getting ticketed for parking a few minutes beyond the time of a scheduled street cleaning, or some poor UPS driver, just trying to do his job, getting ticketed for double-parking in a street that is wide enough for cars to pass him by. Why not take this energy and apply it to the illegal U-turners, red-light turners, speeders and horn honkers? This will save lives as well as fill the city coffers.
