OFF JACKSON AVENUE

IF there really are 8 million sto ries in the naked city, you’d think that writer-director John-Luke Montias would have come up with more convincing scenarios for his Queens-based movie “Off Jackson Avenue.”

A woman flies in from Mexico to discover that she’s to become a prostitute, not a waitress; a guy (played by the director) steals cars so he can buy his own business; a hit man is imported from Tokyo by the Chinese mob.

Clichéd stories, clichéd characters. All that’s missing is Ed Burns.

Running time: 80 minutes. Not rated (sex, violence). At the Quad, 13th Street between Fifth and Sixth avenues.
