BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — Police say a 13-year-old boy has been shot in the head while playing basketball in a Long Island park.
Suffolk County police say Wilson Batista Jr. suffered life-threatening injuries in the shooting Monday night at Timberline Park in Brentwood. An update on his condition wasn’t immediately available Tuesday.
The teen was shooting hoops with friends when several shots were fired in their direction. It’s not immediately clear whether the shots were aimed at the basketball players or someone else.
No arrests have been made.
