Rehabbing Kazmir saves Mets headache

Mention Scott Kazmir and any Mets fan will immediately start shaking his head in disgust.

In 2004 the Amazin’s top prospect was dealt to the Rays for Victor Zambrano and Bartolomé Fortunato. The Mets were desperately trying to make a postseason run and made a move that smacked of desperation. Zambrano, to no one’s surprise, was a complete bust for the Mets and Fortunato is currently playing with the St. George Roadrunners of the Golden Baseball League. Kazmir has fared slightly better — accumulating a 51-41 record and a 3.85 ERA in his major league career.

Kazmir could have made his first start against his former organization this weekend when the Rays come to Citi Field for a three-game series starting Friday, but the lefty is rehabbing a quad injury in the minors right now. And following what has been a week of painful losses the last thing fans need is a painful reminder of the one that got away.

Friend: Bosh wants to play for Heat

A friend of Chris Bosh told the Miami Herald that the Raptors forward would like to play for the Heat.

Granted this is just a friend talking, but it is certainly not an appealing scenario for the Knicks. That would eliminate two of the free agents Donnie Walsh will likely target in the 2010 offseason. Bosh going to Miami takes him off the board and would exponentially increase the odds of Dwyane Wade wanting to remain in Miami and not opt for free agency.

And it’s looking more likely Shaquille O’Neal could be headed to the Cavaliers in an offseason deal. And that ould that affect LeBron James’ status in 2010.

And then there’s this
