Look out 1-15

The Detroit Lions showed off their new logo today in hopes of drumming up some news other than the fact that the team went 0-16 last year and have the first pick in Saturday’s NFL draft.

The team says the changes, the leaping lion appears more fierce, while the team name features an italicized slant, are consistent with its “sense of mission and direction.”

If that were true than it would be a picture of Lion being mauled simultaneously by a Bear, Viking and piece of cheese (Packers) – the three divisional opponents who annually beat on the Lions. Detroit is reportedly interested in taking Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford with the first pick, but Baylor offensive tackle Jason Smith in also a possibility.

But isn’t it just the Lions luck that the year they get the No. 1 pick, they don’t even really want it.

Unfortunately, the Giants and Jets did not draw Detroit on their schedules this year.
