BETHPAGE FD SUV CRASHES INTO LI CAR

Police say a fire department vehicle headed to an emergency call has collided with a car on Long Island, leaving the car’s driver with serious internal injuries wounds.

Two firefighters have been treated for minor wounds after the crash around 8 a.m. Saturday in Bethpage.

Nassau County police are investigating but say there was no criminal conduct.

The firefighters were driving a Bethpage Fire Department sport-utility vehicle on Hicksville Road when they collided with the car at an intersection. It’s not immediately known how fast either vehicle was going.

Police didn’t know the nature of the call to which the firefighters were responding.
