‘KILLER’ GRANNY BUSTED

A Bronx grandmother with three arrests was busted yesterday for beating her 4-year-old grandson to death, cops said.

Angela Barksdale, 45, was charged with killing little Kevion Shand – her jailed daughter’s son – in her Parkchester home.

An autopsy yesterday determined that the child died of blunt impact to the head and hemorrhaging under the skull, according to the medical examiner.

Kevion’s battered body was found on a couch under a blanket in the grandmother’s Metropolitan Avenue apartment shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday, after she called 911 to say the boy was unconscious, sources said.

Two men – one believed to be Barksdale’s boyfriend – were in the apartment when cops arrived. Neither has been charged.

The sources also indicated that it appeared Kevion had been dead for as long as two days before Barksdale notified authorities.

“Children have become like paper,” fumed neighbor Marsha King. “We just throw them away. Who knows? This child could have grown up to cure cancer or be president. They should dig a hole and bury the grandmother in it.”

Sources said Barksdale, who has arrests for trespassing, assault and robbery, had taken over the boy’s care after the mother was tossed in jail in Pennsylvania. The charges against her were not immediately known.

A spokeswoman for the city’s Administration for Children’s Services said the agency had not placed Kevion or his 18-month-old sister with the grandmother. The agency declined to comment on the whereabouts of the girl.

Neighbors of the grandmother confirmed that both the boy and his 18-month-old sister had only recently appeared in the building. It was not known who is currently caring for the young girl.
