CONAN CAPS LONG ‘LATE NIGHT’ RUN

CONAN O’Brien said goodbye to his “Late Night” show with a bang.

The comedian, who ended his 16-year-long run yesterday with a special appearance from his former sidekick, Andy Richter, tore down a lighting pole with a construction vehicle and then took to it with an ax.

O’Brien, who soon will head to California to take the helm of the “Tonight Show,” took a trip down memory lane, playing some of his favorite clips from past episodes.

Highlights included his kiss with Rebecca Romijn and an unforgettable kick received from “Rush Hour” star and martial arts expert Jackie Chan.

The curtain call also included a performance from rockers the White Stripes and an appearance from funnyman Will Ferrell playing George Bush.

O’Brien has known for five years he would take over the venerable “Tonight Show” on NBC. He will make his debut on June 1, the Monday after Jay Leno’s final episode as host.

Jimmy Fallon will replace Conan as the host of “Late Night” on March 2.

Leno, who had once been very upset at the Peacock Network for moving him out of the show he took over for Johnny Carson, will move to a 10 p.m. prime-time slot on NBC.
