A Manhattan art dealer is being sued by a South Korean collector who claims she was conned into buying a Julian Schnabel painting for nearly four times its worth.
After taking $118,000 for another painting she failed to deliver, dealer Mary Dinaburg offered a $200,000 credit toward the purchase of Schnabel’s “Chinkzee” for an insider price of $380,000, according to the Manhattan federal-court suit.
Dinaburg allegedly said it was worth $500,000.
But Najung “Jamie” Seung claims she learned that Sotheby’s had appraised it at $110,000.
