HATE-SLAY CASE GROWS

The vicious crew of Long Island teens charged with the hate-fueled killing of an Ecuadorian immigrant assaulted eight other Hispanic men as a “pastime,” prosecutors said yesterday.

Suffolk County officials hit the teens with a slew of new charges that they terrorized random men for over a year beginning in September 2007.

“All of the defendants participated in what we consider to be a violent and racially driven pastime,” Suffolk District Attorney Thomas Spota said.

Victim Carlos Orellana, who first told his story to The Post, was stomped unconscious and had his wallet and shoes stolen in July, Spota said.

The group from Patchogue-Medford HS saw their alleged racial rampage come to an end with the murder of Marcelo Lucero, a 37-year-old dry cleaner’s assistant from Patchogue.

One of the boys, Joseph Conroy, 17, allegedly stabbed the Ecuadorian immigrant after he tried to fend off the gang with a belt.
