NO. 13 UCLA WASH-ED OFF PAC-10 PINNACLE

Freshman Isaiah Thomas scored 24 points and Justin Dentmon returned from foul trouble to spark the decisive late run that sent resurgent Washington to an 86-75 victory over 13th-ranked UCLA and gave the Pac-10 a new leader yesterday.

The Huskies (15-4, 6-1 Pac-10), who won for the fifth consecutive time over UCLA in Seattle, scored more points than anyone had this season against the rugged Bruins (15-4, 5-2).

UCLA’s Josh Shipp scored a career-high 25 points but went scoreless for more than nine minutes of the second half.

Duke 85, Maryland 44

Gerald Henderson scored 17 points to help No. 2 Duke (18-1, 5-0 ACC) rout Maryland (13-6, 2-3), a victory that could propel the Blue Devils to the No. 1 ranking next week.

Oklahoma 95, Baylor 76

In Norman, Okla., Blake Griffin had 20 points and 17 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season, and No. 6 Oklahoma (19-1, 15-0 Big 12) routed Baylor (15-4, 3-2).

Marquette 79, DePaul 70

In Milwaukee, Jerel McNeal scored 21 points, Wesley Matthews had 20 and Lazar Hayward added 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead No. 11 Marquette (17-2, 6-0 Big East) to the victory over DePaul (8-12, 0-7).

Texas 67, Texas A&M 58

In Austin, Texas, Damion James scored 28 points, including 11 in a two-minute stretch of the second half, to lead the No. 14 Longhorns (14-4, 3-1 Big 12) over Texas A&M (15-5, 1-4).

Xavier 80, LSU 70

In Baton Rouge, La., Derrick Brown scored 22 points and No. 15 Xavier (17-2) handed LSU (15-4) its first home loss of the season despite 30 points from the Tigers’ Marcus Thornton.

In Indianapolis, reserve Shawn Vanzant scored a career-high 20 Points and No. 16 Butler (18-1, 9-0 Horizon League) routed Wisconsin-Milwaukee (12-8, 7-3).

In Tampa, Fla., Dante Cunningham scored 14 points and Scottie Reynolds made four free throws over the final 1:07 to help No. 20 Villanova (15-4, 3-3 Big East) hold off South Florida (7-12, 2-5).

In Knoxville, Tenn., Tyreke Evans scored 17 points and had Memphis’ final seven, including a free throw with one second remaining, to helpthe No. 22 Tigers (16-3) defeat Tennessee (12-6).

In Brooklyn, Ricky Cadell scored 17 points and John Gooden converted a three-point play with 2.1 seconds remaining to lift St. Francis, N.Y., (6-13, 4-5 NEC) over St. Francis, Pa., (4-15, 1-8).

In Farmville, Va., Antwan Carter scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds off the bench to lead Longwood (10-10) over the New Jersey Institute of Technology (1-19), which had a game-high 20 points from Jheryl Wilson three days after ending the longest losing streak in Division I at 51 games.

In Ithaca, N.Y., Alex Tyler scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Cornell (12-6, 2-0 Ivy League) beat Columbia (5-11, 0-2), despite a game-high 24 points from Noruwa Agho.

In Teaneck, N.J., Rob Robinson scored 20 points to lead Robert Morris(13-7, 8-1 NEC) over Fairleigh Dickinson (4-15, 4-5), which got 14 points from Cameron Tyler.

In Emmitsburg, Md., Shawn Atupem scored 16 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Mount St. Mary’s (11-9, 6-3 NEC) beat Monmouth (6-15, 4-5), which was led by Will Campbell’s 11 points.

In Smithfield, R.I., Andrew Lyell’s lay up with two seconds left edged Bryant (4-16) past Long Island University (9-10), which was led by Julian Boyd’s 16 points.
