“Slumdog Millionaire” took the top prize at the Golden Globes, and barring a disaster it will likely repeat at the Oscars. “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” did not win a single award, nor did “Frost/Nixon,” “Doubt” or another likely Oscar Best Picture nominee, “Milk.” The latter wasn’t even nominated as best picture by the Globbies; nor was another putitive Oscar nominee “The Dark Knight,” which won for best supporting actor. That said, the Globes have not been a great predictor of late. Last year the HPFA went with “Atonement,” while the academy garlanded “No Country for Old Men.” The two years before that, the winners of the Globes drama prize were “Babel” and “Brokeback Mountain.”
