ATTENTION, SHOPPERS: LIVES HAVE VALUE, TOO

* This is directed to all the animals (you know who you are) who stampeded that poor man at Wal-Mart on Black Friday (“Hell-Mart,” Nov. 29):

You are a perfect example of the depraved decadence of society today.

Congratulations. It wasn’t just a person who perished under your greedy soles; Christmas died, too.

Enjoy those iPods and flat-screens.

It just goes to show you the value people have in regard to human life.

Running down a person like wild animals in a jungle and killing them just to save a few dollars on an item – this is not what the holidays are about.

People should stop putting so much emphasis on shopping and getting gifts and, instead, spend more time with family.

These are the same people who will be screaming at the end of the month that they have no money to pay their rent or other bills.

The death of Jdimytai Damour is especially tragic, as it could have been avoided with the use of common sense by Wal-Mart.

When you have 2,000 people trying to get into a store through one entrance, there has to be some order.

With its assets, you would think that Wal-Mart could have had a large security presence at the store or at least have barricades put up to contain the crowd. The issuing of numbers as the customers came to the store and perhaps paging 20 at a time would have been a smart move.

Sadly, greed precluded the welfare of their employee, and, for that, Wal-Mart should be held liable as it appears to be negligent.

The recent murder at Wal-Mart has sickened us beyond imagination.

One can only hope that witnesses to the event can help police identify the guilty parties or that the perpetrators, disgusted with themselves, have the decency to turn themselves in.

There are definitely more valuable things in life than saving $100 on a TV.

I hope the savages who trampled a man to death think the 10 bucks they saved on some mindless electronic game was worth a human life.

They should all be charged with murder.

The retailers had been advertising their “Doorbuster Sales” for two weeks prior to Thanksgiving.

Some people, the customers at the Wal-Mart, took them literally, a lot of fodder for a lawyer in a lawsuit.

The tragic death of Damour should have been avoided.

The blame should not be placed soley on those who trampled him; Wal-Mart is also responsible.

Management should have surveyed the situation and had security at the door, ensuring a somewhat orderly entrance.

Corporate Wal-Mart should have a plan in place for this predictable day.

For spokesman Dan Fogelman to say that “the safety and security of our customers is our top priority” is nonsense.

What is the matter with us?

Our consumerism has led to bankruptcy, misery and now murder?

Stop, America. Take a breath and see what we’ve become.

Each and every one who surged and broke through the doors, trampling an employee underfoot in their greed to score holiday bargains, should share the responsibility of this innocent man’s death.

Put that under the Christmas tree, menorah or whatever you have this year, and weep.

You are each and collectively murderers.
