American author John Updike has won a lifetime-achievement award from the British judges who bestow the Bad Sex in Fiction Prize. It celebrates what the judges consider the most crude, tasteless and ridiculous passages in modern literature.

“Good sex or bad sex, he has kept us entertained for many years,” the judges said in a statement.

In a case of jump justice, three Singaporeans were jailed for showing up at the country’s Supreme Court wearing T-shirts depicting kangaroos dressed in judicial robes.

The hint that the local Supremes were running a kangaroo court “scandalized the Singapore judiciary,” the country’s attorney general said.

A thief in New Zealand was caught on camera stealing expensive equipment from a billboard company – which plastered his image on numerous of its giant signs.

He was photographed by a suspicious onlooker as he uncoupled 15 electrical transformers used for lighting a billboard in Auckland.

A motorist in Mexico got himself into a sticky situation when he spotted a broken pickup truck and pulled over to help the driver, a woman wearing a sexy miniskirt.

She told him that accomplices had trained a gun on him, then Superglued his hands to the steering wheel and robbed him.

“He probably thought it was his lucky day when he saw the woman in the miniskirt,” said police spokesman David Perales. “He was surprised when she tied him up.”
