BARACK BOUNCES HIGHER

Barack Obama bounced a little higher – to an 8-point lead over John McCain – as the Democratic Convention ended, the latest Gallup Poll shows.

The margin is a sharp contrast from the 1-point McCain lead Gallup found Monday, the day the convention opened.

The latest survey showing Obama at 49 percent and McCain at 41 percent was based on interviews conducted Tuesday through Thursday evening, the night Obama delivered his acceptance speech, the Princeton, NJ-based pollster said.

The two candidates had been virtually tied for two weeks.

A Rasmussen Reports survey said Obama jumped between a three-day poll that ended Wednesday and one that ended Thursday – going from a tie at 47 percent to a 49-to-45 percent lead.
