Don’t look for Billy Wagner to close for the Mets anytime soon. The club announced today that Wagner is still experiencing pain and swelling in his left elbow after being re-examined in New York today. Wagner needs further rest before he can resume throwing, so he will remain on the DL indefinitely. Jerry Manuel has said he will use a closer-by-committee approach, although Aaron Heilman appears to be his choice in tight situations. 6 P.M. UPDATE: Manuel continues to insist he is considering moving a starter to the bullpen during Wagner’s absence.
