Offense lagging behind

By PAUL SCHWARTZ

ALBANY — On the final play of practice, receiver Brandon London leaped high in the air and over cornerback Sam Madison, reached up as far as he could and hauled in a tight spiral from rookie Andre’ Woodson.

It certainly was a bright monent for the Giants offense. But, according to Tom Coughlin, there haven’t been enough bright moments thus far in training camp. “This afternoon we had decent intensity on defense,” Coughlin said. “Not as much as I would like on offense.”

Coughlin did not agree with the assertion that this was a trend, cautioning that members of the offensive line would not take kindly to the suggestion of a lack of intensity. Still, Coughlin said “I just think we’ve got to turn it up a notch.”

Other practice notables:

Rookie LB Jonathan Goff surprisingly watched practice, even though in Thursday night’s preseason opener he went down with a fractured vertebra in his lower back. Coughlin said Goff is “out indefinitely” and it appears as if the team is deciding if Goff will be able to make it back or else he’ll be put on season-ending injured reserve.

One play that caused laughter took place when RB Ahmad Bradshaw made a spin on a running play and ran directly into unsuspecting LG Rich Seubert, sending Seubert down to the grass.

A David Carr pass intended for Brandon London was intercepted by S James Butler. … Anthony Wright was picked off by S Sammy Knight.
