A Canadian tourist was attacked, robbed and sexually abused after a man followed her into a luxury Chelsea apartment early yesterday.
Police say the 32-year-old woman arrived at the apartment at Ninth Avenue and 26th Street, where she was staying with a friend, at 4:30 a.m.
The man followed her into the apartment and choked her into unconsciousness.
The woman awoke minutes later to find her clothes partially removed, a small amount of cash, jewelry and a cellphone missing, and no sign of her attacker.
Detectives spent hours at the apartment building and removed five bags of evidence just after 2 p.m.
Police say they have security-camera footage of the man entering the Heywood Building, which is staffed by a doorman 24 hours a day.
