BAKED APPLE IN THE OVEN

Burn, baby, burn!

The Big Apple will be brutalized today as the season’s first heat wave sends temperatures soaring as high as a scorching 95 – with a heat index making it feel like 100.

Sadly, it won’t end there. The heat wave is expected to hover through the weekend and into early next week with temps capping out at 96 Monday.

“You’ll need sunblock for sure if you’re out for long periods of time,” said meteorologist John Murray of the National Weather Service.

Con Ed is gearing up for massive electricity usage as homebound heat refugees go full blast with their air conditioners.

Of course, there’s always the beach – particularly the sandy south shores of Staten Island, which tend to be less crowded than those on Long Island and cheaper to get to.
