HILL’S KENNEDY COMMENT: WHAT DID SHE MEAN?

THE ISSUE: Sen. Clinton’s use of Robert Kennedy’s assassination in defending her candidacy.

Someone, please remind Sen. Hillary Clinton of the old naval expression, “A slip of the lip can sink a ship” (“Hill’s ‘Assassin’ Talk a Shocker,” May 24).

So, Clinton made a gaffe and mentioned the assassination of Bobby Kennedy when trying to make the point that those who are trying to make her quit the race seem to have forgotten that the 1968 and 1992 primaries ran into June.

I carry no brief for the Clintons, but haven’t we had enough already?

Besides, if there is some nut out there who wants to shoot someone, he or she doesn’t need a reminder from Clinton or anyone else to do a dirty deed.

Where is Clinton’s head?

She should get out of the race right now.

Will somebody call Clinton at 3 a.m. and tell her that it’s all over? I think she will answer the phone.

Clinton has finally jumped the shark with an awful choice of historical reflections.

I can’t imagine that she’s the first, nor will she be the last, to do so. But such illogical and tasteless references made in public are not popular with voters.

What a character!

Every time Clinton opens her big mouth, she keeps digging a deeper and deeper hole.

Is she waiting until June because she’s expecting something terrible to happen so that she gets a green light to the Oval Office?

What a cheap contender.

I hope she drops out of the political arena before the 2012 election.

We are seeing Clinton under stress.

We now know how she will react when she receives that 3 a.m. telephone call.

Heaven help us.

After her latest statements and lack of historical knowledge, Clinton’s embarrassment should make her withdraw.

A major part of her job is to publicly speak, and she has misspoken once too often.

The only way to clean up this carnage is to publicly apologize to Sen. Barack Obama‘s wife and kids.

What would the voters need for her to do to make it right?

The idea espoused that Clinton’s “gaffe” about Robert Kennedy’s murder will inspire a modern Sirhan Sirhan is simply absurd (“Kennedys Feel Bobby-Socked,” May 25).

If anything were to motivate such a sick person, it would be media coverage this comment has received.

While the wisdom of Clinton’s comment can be debated, she did not imply that she is staying in this race as she privately hopes that someone will assassinate Obama.

Anyone with a clear and unbiased mindset should be able to see that her comment had nothing to do with Obama.

If Robert Kennedy Jr., who had to suffer through the tragic loss of his father, can see that, why can’t you?

You have gone to an extreme in putting Obama on this silver platter, which he truly does not deserve.

I will go out of my way to elect Sen. John McCain if Hillary loses.

Clinton’s comment regarding RFK was taken out of context and spun into some very ugly insinuations.

I hope that the media are happy that they single-handedly squashed this talented and gutsy woman’s candidacy.

Just when you think that Clinton can’t possibly offend you any further, she manages to rise to the occasion.

Clinton, please go home.
