A Queens mom told cops yesterday she abandoned her 3-day-old daughter on Mother’s Day because she’d been unable to carry out her husband’s order to get an abortion, police sources said.
When Hua Zheng, 31, of Flushing, let her husband know she was pregnant, he told her to get an abortion because the couple couldn’t afford a second child, the sources said.
But when Zheng’s doctor said her pregnancy was too far along to perform the procedure, she hid her pregnancy and gave birth at New York Hospital Queens, the sources said.
Zheng was arrested yesterday and charged with reckless endangerment, abandonment of a child and endangering the welfare of a child for abandoning the infant on the doorstep of a minister she knew.
