NEW YORK’S GETTIN’ ‘UGLY’

‘UGLY Betty’ has come home.

As The Post reported last week, the ABC sitcom about a homely Queens native will be shot here next season. Mayor Bloomberg and Gov. Paterson officially welcomed the show yesterday.

“A show about a young woman from Queens whose job combines publishing and fashion was made to be ‘made in New York,’ ” Bloomberg said in a statement.

The show follows Betty (America Ferrera), an unattractive girl with a big heart who fights her way through the dog-eat-dog world of a Vogue-like fashion mag.

Plans call for the show to be filmed on location in Queens and Manhattan.

“Betty” is among the first major productions to take advantage of a new expansion on New York State’s Film Production Credit tax program, which allows bigger, more expensive TV shows and films to qualify for a tax break.

“Betty’s” move from LA to NYC is expected to create at least 200 full and part-time jobs.
