NANCY: MAC’S THE RIGHT MAN

Helping John McCain shore up his right flank, former first lady Nancy Reagan yesterday endorsed the presumptive GOP nominee.

John McCain has been a good friend for over 30 years. My husband and I first came to know him as a returning Vietnam War POW and were impressed by the courage he had shown through his terrible ordeal,” said the widow of conservative hero Ronald Reagan.

“I believe John’s record and experience have prepared him well to be our next president.”

McCain, who flew to California to accept the endorsement at Mrs. Reagan’s Bel Air, Calif., residence, was thrilled to get her seal of approval.

When Ronald Reagan governed California in the 1970s, he and Nancy hosted parties for returning war veterans, including McCain.

In a bid to appeal to wary conservatives, McCain has called himself a “foot soldier in the Reagan revolution.”
