Thereâs always something happening in Yankee Land. This morning in a hallway outside the Yankee clubhouse Andy Pettitte was telling us about his back spasms. Pettitte got scratched from his minor league start today. This is the second time heâs been scratched this spring due to injury.
This is the first time this year the back problems cropped up. He also tweaked his back last spring.
âI thought I pulled something in my back last year, itâs the same area, but is nowhere as significant as it was last year,ââ Pettitte said.
Pettitte said this was frustrating.
âThe older you get, youâve done this for so many years, and then all of a sudden something happens,” he said, “itâs pretty sad when you start getting an age when you make a sudden move or something and things happen. Thatâs kind of frustrating.ââ
If Pettitte’s problems continue, there are no plans at this point to bounce Joba Chamberlain back into the rotation.
